Die beiden im indischen Bangalore und Berlin lebenden Musiker Nishad Pandey und Aman Mahajan haben unter dem Namen Tinctures ein gemeinsames Album eingespielt. Basierend auf Piano und Gitarre verbindet das zwischen 2016 und 2019 entstandene “Heads and Tales” Einflüsse sowohl des Jazz als auch der klassischen Traditionen Europas und des indischen Subkontinents. Das Album erscheint am 6. August auf CD, ein Nachfolger unter dem Arbeitstitel “Moments”, das mit Unterstützung eines vom Goethe-Institut organisierten Remote-Programms entsteht, ist bereits in Arbeit.
“Tinctures is a pioneering piano-guitar duo from Bangalore and Berlin that explores the nature of consonance and dissonance in sound-worlds they create with their compositions and improvisations. Their music is a confluence of three distinct traditions — jazz, Indian classical music, and European chamber music, performed on two instruments not commonly paired, forged through a process of gameplay and exploration. The duo maintains a schedule of regular performances and workshops in India and Berlin.
In 2019, they recorded their first studio album Heads and Tales, which will be out in 2021. They are currently completing their second album Moments, Remote as part of a Goethe-Institut funded residency, exploring ways to make interactive music online during the coronavirus pandemic.” (Subcontinental)
