Auch in diesem Jahr bringt deraus Israel stammende und in Berlin lebende Komponist und Producer Yair Etzioy einen neuen Longplayer heraus. Das digital über die schwedischen Lamour Records erscheinende “Pipo” enthält neun Tracks, die auf einer Mixtur aus analoger Elektronik und digitalen Effekten basiert. es ist als Hommage an einen engen Freund konzipiert und verarbeitet in seinen ebenso dynamischen wie teilweise schwermütig eingefärbten Arrangements gemeinsame musikalische Vorlieben, die von John Carpenter-Scores bis zu Autechre reichen. Auch dies trägt zu einem – im Vergleich zu vorigen Alben wie “Further Reduction” oder “We Were Here Before…” – monumentaleren und formverliebteren Sound bei. “Pipo” erscheint als Download am 30. “Sometime in 2021 Yair Etziony decided to compose a record dedicated to one of his best friends, Pipo. After a year’s work, Yair finished the album, crafting what he calls “the sound of friendship” using different instruments: from analog synths to cutting edge plugins and digital effects. Celebrating a friendship of more than twenty years, the album represents everything that this friendship is about. The track titles refer to shared memories, places, and associations that have assumed “canonical” status in the course of time. At the same time, the style of the compositions encapsulates the friends’ mutual love for the dark synth sounds of John Carpenter and Autechre. Yair describes an image that kept recurring in his head while composing the music for the album. He says it felt like ‘someone standing outside a nice cozy restaurant on a cold rainy night. Gazing at the people enjoying themselves inside, he then leaves, disappearing into the rain’.” (Lamour)
