“In 25 tracks spread over two discs echoing each other, “Chorologie I” introduces us to the plurality of Tzii’s ever-expanding body of work, marked by the notions of itinerancy and displacement, in the geographical sense as much as in the introspective sense, in close connection with his practice as a nomadic sound and image recorder. It pays homage to the intellectual and spiritual fundamentals that guide his career: refusal of dogmas and loyalty to the underground, industrial culture and astral cult, animism and psychedelia, the cinematographic approach and de-centered vision of an artist who has been on the road since he came to life, with an emphasis on Africa. During more than 2h30, “Chorologie I” unfolds a dense canvas of waves with a unique sensibility, beyond the variety of approaches proposed – but almost always recognizable among a thousand – by Tzii throughout the first part of his career.
