Der Wiener Ambient- und Dub-Virtuose Ulrich Troyer bringt am 20. September eine weitere Auskopplung seines kommenden Albums “” heraus. Die beiden Tracks “Latzfonser Kreuz” und “Feltuner Hütte” enthalten Beiträge renommierter Gäste, die den Songs auf einer ambienten Basis ein mal entspannt rhythmisches, mal beinahe krautig psychedelisches Gepräge geben. In der Beschreibung von DJ und Radiohost Steve Barker heißt es: “Mamadou Diabate, originally from Burkina-Faso and now resident in Vienna, who is also a world- famous virtuoso balaphon player, collaborates on “Latzfonser Kreuz” with fellow countryman Hamidou Koita to produce a remarkable percussion track, both singing and employing talking drum and djembe to come up with a sound that can only be described as dubbed-out Nyahbinghi-style electro-beats! The track

references the little church at Latzfonser Kreuz, which is the highest pilgrimage spot in South Tyrol, one of the highest in Europe; every year in June, the Black Lord, a black carved Gothic wooden cross, is brought from the village church in Latzfons to the pilgrimage church, where it remains throughout the summer. On the flip for “Feltuner Hütte” Ulrich Troyer is joined by co-producer Osman Murat Ertel, founding member of the electro-psych-folk group Baba Zula from Istanbul, who has worked internationally for many years collaborating with the likes of Jaki Liebezeit, Fred Frith and Mad Professor. But here Murat takes us on a dub psych-out trip with his favoured electric saz, with wha wha FX, delay and echo, like Link Wray meeting King Tubby on the old streets of Istanbul.”. Echoes: Neue 7″ von Ulrich Troyer

Der in Wien lebenden Producer und Mehrfachinstrumentalist Ulrich Troyers bringt am 17. Mai eine neue 7″ über sein Label 4Bit Productions heraus – die beiden Stücke “Echoes Part 1″ und “2″ sind, gleichwohl unter Troyers Regie, in Kollaboration mit dem auch am Jazz geschulten Vibra- und Marimbaphonisten Flip Philipp vom Wiener Symphonieorchester entstanden und offerieren in gut neun Minuten eine dublastige, ambiente Musik mit einem starken Einschlag des Gamelan. Analoge Synthies, Drummachinem Sampler, eine Reihe an Field Recordings und diverse Effekte tragen zum ganz eigenen Klang- und Motivkosmos der Tracks bei, die zudem einen Vorgeschmack auf ein Album mit dem Arbeitstitel “Transit Tribe” geben, das für einen späteren Zeitpunkt dieses Jahres angesetzt ist.

“‘ECHOES’ has all the resonance of pure gamelan in dub, stately, processional and instrumentally rhythmic with its sparser second part isolating contrasting pulses as the complexity unfolds and dazzles. Twenty years in the making, now the fully developed vision of multi-instrumentalist Vienna- based Ulrich Troyer can be heard coming to its final fruition. The interface of electronics and the unique warmth of human interplay is apparent on this track as well as all the other sounds to be heard on the album where a remarkable array of new and old friends contribute to the proceedings.

NOK 2020: Wiederveröffentlichung von Ulrich Troyers Debüt

Ulrich Troyer bringt eine erweiterte Version seiner 2000 erschienenen Debüt-EP “NOK” (Editions Mego) neu heraus. Das Mini-Album, in Troyers Worten ein “soundtrack for an imaginary cartoon”, verband seinerzeit hohe und niedrige Frequenzen mit organischen Sounds zu einem polyrhythmischen Kontinuum. Die neue, auf der Basis der Original-DAT-Tapes gemasterte Version, enthält unveröffentlichte Aufnahmen aus der Zeit sowie Remixe von Christian Fennesz und Stefan Németh und erscheint somit als Longplayer bei 4Bit Productions.

“Now, NOK is available for the first time on vinyl as a full length album supplemented with previously unreleased material from 1998 – 2000 found on the original DAT-Tapes. The reissue includes 2 new remixes created 20 years later. Christian Fennesz (Touch, Mego) delivers a powerful, guitar driven remix that is simultaneously joyful and sorrowful.
