Ihr Zusammenspiel ist durch einen kraftvollen, sich ständig wandelnden Sound geprägt, der, wie es auch vom Label betont wird, zwischen aufgewühlter Intensität und fragilen Momenten oszilliert. Die Stimme von Jelena Kuljić steht dabei im Zentrum, mal eindringlich expressiv, mal zurückgenommen. Saxophon- und Klarinettenparts von Frank Gratkowski verleihen der Musik eine in einigen Momenten fast monumentale Dimension, während Achim Kaufmanns Fender Rhodes, Sebastian Müllers Gitarre und die treibende Rhythmussektion von Askari und Schlagzeuger Thomas Sauerborn für Kontraste sorgen. “Dashin’ Headless” basiert lyrisch auf Texten von Lola Ridge und Alice Dunbar-Nelson.

Equipment hinaus und offenbart eine große atmosphärische Variationsbreite, ein gutes Händchen für Kompositionen, das auch dann erkennbar bleibt, wenn die Musik ihre noisige Seite in den Vordergrund rückt. Vom Künstler heißt es: It’s hot down here! GameBoys & Pedals is my first solo release. The music was created by using only Nintendo GameBoys and effect pedals. GameBoy was broken when I recorded this music, so I used a spare one that did not have the pro sound mod. There is a lot of electronic junk noise on these recordings because of that, which actually blends very nicely with the intended audio output”. Das Album erscheint am 9. “What does it mean to actually follow your dreams? Are those dreams set in stone or are they ever changing? What are the sacrifices you are willing to make on the way? The one answer I got out of this work and the process is that change is inevitable. If we are privileged enough to live in a society that does not disrupt individuals by violence and supression, it’s up to us what we do with that freedom. If we have the choice, change in ourselves can be the most fullfilling and liberating thing if there’s a loving element involved. I am very thankful to Jozef for bringing all this trust with him from Paris that time. It enabled us to leave any sort of paradigm behind and form the sonic sculpture that is captured on this recording.” (David Helm)
