Gerade bringen Ni Vu Ni Connu das gemeinsame Debüt des deutschen Klarinettisten Kai Fagaschinski und der chinesischen Vokalistin Yan Jun heraus. “Graveyard Processions” ist Teil einer Reihe, mit denen das Label Duo-Projekte aus dem Umfeld der Berliner Echtzeitmusik in Form von Aufnahmen dokumentiert. Das Album erscheint als LP und digital.

“Graveyard Processions [...] sees the duo enrich improvisation with field recordings and overdubs. The Berlin-based clarinettist and the sound artist and vocalist from Beijing blur the lines between improvisation on the one hand, and record production as well as composition-after-the-fact on the other. The four pieces on Graveyard Processions work primarily with Yan Jun’s voice and Fagaschinski’s playing and also add a plethora of other sounds to dizzying effect. This is the sound of two prolific artists — the former active across different media and as a vocal experimentalist, the latter a fixture in Berlin’s Free scene as a member of The International Nothing and other projects — vastly expanding upon their possibilities”. The International Nothing: Releasekonzert und Film im Berliner TiK

Am 15. Juni spielt das Klarinetten-Duo Michael Thieke und Kai Fagaschinski alias The International Nothing im Rahmen der ExperimenTiK-Reihe im Berliner Theater im Kino. Aufgeführt wird das aktuelle Album “Just None of Those Things”, ebenfalls zu sehen ist Dieter Kovačičs Filmporträt “In Trout We Dust” über die Band, die den Zweifel und die Fokussierung auf das Nichts in zahlreichen Titeln zu ihrem – bisweilen augenzwinkernden? – Markenzeichen gemacht hat. Zwei Klarinetten im Dienste des Nichts: Neues Album von The International Nothing

Die beiden Klarinettisten Michael Thieke und Kai Fagaschinski bringen am 20. Februar den neuen Longplayer ihres Projektes The International Nothing heraus. Anknüpfend an frühere Veröffentlichungen wie “Less Action, Less Excitement, Less Everything”, “The Power of Negative Thinking” und “In Doubt We Trust” impliziert der Titel des neuen Albums “Just None of Those Things” einmal mehr eine befreiende Absage an alles, was der Fall ist, und insofern eine eindrückliche Huldigung dessen, was in unserer Sprachgemeinschaft provisorisch als Nichts gefasst wird. “Just None of Those Things” enthält einen Track von einer knappen Dreiviertelstunde Spielzeit, dessen mehrschichtige Textur diesmal weniger Ausdruck gemeinsamen Improvisierens, sondern das Resultat einer feinsinnigen gemeinsamen Komposition ist. “For the last 2 1/2 years The International Nothing has been working more obsessed than ever on their new long-form composition”, heißt es bei ihrem Label Ftarri, das auch einen Großteil ihrer bisherigen Aufnahmen verlegte. Ferner: “The two clarinets continue to gel into one multilayered entity. And while you might recognize their collective voice, they certainly reached down way further into the abyss of weirdness. Ambiguously this one might count as their yet rawest and most refined work exploring their most futuristic and primordial sonic territories”.
