Gerade bringen Ni Vu Ni Connu das gemeinsame Debüt des deutschen Klarinettisten Kai Fagaschinski und der chinesischen Vokalistin Yan Jun heraus. “Graveyard Processions” ist Teil einer Reihe, mit denen das Label Duo-Projekte aus dem Umfeld der Berliner Echtzeitmusik in Form von Aufnahmen dokumentiert. Das Album erscheint als LP und digital.

“Graveyard Processions [...] sees the duo enrich improvisation with field recordings and overdubs. The Berlin-based clarinettist and the sound artist and vocalist from Beijing blur the lines between improvisation on the one hand, and record production as well as composition-after-the-fact on the other. The four pieces on Graveyard Processions work primarily with Yan Jun’s voice and Fagaschinski’s playing and also add a plethora of other sounds to dizzying effect. This is the sound of two prolific artists — the former active across different media and as a vocal experimentalist, the latter a fixture in Berlin’s Free scene as a member of The International Nothing and other projects — vastly expanding upon their possibilities”. Mit einer 4 LPs und mehrere Essays umfassenden Box feiert das aus Werner Dafeldecker, Michael Moser, Burkhard Beins und Martin Brandlmayr bestehende Neue Musik- und Improvisations-Ensemble Polwechsel in den nächsten Wochen sein dreißigjähriges Bestehen. Auf ihrer neuen Veröffentlichung präsentieren die in Berlin und Wien ansässigen Musiker eine Reihe neuer Arbeiten, die in Kollaboration mit ehemaligen Weggefährten und befreundeten Acts – Andrea Neumann, Magda Mayas, John Butcher, Peter Ablinger, Klaus Lang – eingespielt wurden. Sie repräsentieren die große Bandbreite ihrer über die Jahre entwickelten musikalischen Ideen. Die Box enthält Texte von Stuart Broomer, Reinhard Kager und Ulrike Polatschegg und erscheint beim Luxemburger Label Ni Vu Ni Connu.

“For 30 years now, the Vienna- and Berlin-based ensemble Polwechsel have been making music at the interface of collective improvisation and contemporary composition. With their changing cast, the group have been at the forefront of musical experimentation, from style-defining works in reductionism in the 1990s, which concentrated on silence, background noises and disruptions, to a change in direction in the 2000s, which saw the introduction of traditional musical aspects such as tonal relationships, harmony and rhythm. Through varying constellations, instrumentations and collaborations, Polwechsel have developed a unique body of work that has firmly established them as one of the driving forces in contemporary music-making”. Monte Carlo Fallacy: Neues Duett von Nicholas Bussmann und Werner Dafeldecker

Unter dem Titel “Monte Carlo Fellacy” erschien vor kurzem eine neue gemeinsame LP der beiden Musikerfreunde Nicholas Bussmann (Cello) und Werner Dafeldecker (Kontrabass). Auf dem Album führen die beiden ihr Konzept, den Instrumenten nicht nur untypische, sondern auch traditionellnicht alas Musik lesbare Töne und Klänge zu entlocken, die dröhnend, rauschend, knarrend und einiges mehr sein können. Darauf bezieht sich auch Dean M. Roberts in seinem Begleittext: “The instruments are stripped and relieved of their duty to produce “music”. They are left

to wheeze, toss, twist and turn in a somnambulant, confused and apocalyptic space where each creaky resonance brings to mind the atmosphere of tragedy that pervades Fellini’s Orchestra Rehearsal (1978), where the musicians are hostages in a theatre, indefinitely trapped in isolation, with no audience to play to.
