Das Quartett vereint mit Kit Downes, Mats Gustafsson, Veslemøy Narvesen und Bandleader Nicolas Leirtrø selbst vier profilierte Improvisationsmusiker aus unterschiedlichen Generationen und musikalischen Kontexten.

Im Mittelpunkt steht, so heißt es treffend beim Label, die Spannung zwischen komponierten Strukturen, freier Improvisation und visuellen Konzepten. Riffbetonte Passagen mit hoher Energie treffen auf offene Formverläufe, getragen von Orgel, Saxophonen und Flöte, Kontrabass und Schlagzeug. Anklänge an spirituellen Free Jazz und weitere Einflüsse sind evident. Eine zentrale Rolle spielen grafische Partituren in Form von Linolschnitten, die zugleich visuelle Arbeiten und Ausgangspunkte für die Improvisation sind. Das Album erscheint als 2LP, CD und zum Download.

Einmal mehr verfeinern die fünf Musikerinnen und Musiker auf “St​å​r Op Med Solen” ihren eigenen Stil. Beim Label Aguirre heißt es: “We hear influences from both old school free jazz, and contemporary Scandinavian jazz like Fire! Orchestra and Christian Wallumrød Ensemble, as well as clear connection to the Trondheim milieu, where the group was founded in 2020.

The energetic and expressive band explores their more subtle side with this record. Står op med solen is an album longing for humans to be one with nature. The music questions the world’s ultra-capitalistic power structures of today where everything has to move forward and be productive all the time. The band navigates like one organism through parts of organic free jazz, strict structures and composed cells.” Das Album erscheint in Kooperation mit Sonic Transmissions als LP, CD und Download mit Artwork von Jeroen Wille. In einigen Wochen geht Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie auf Tour durch sieben europäische Länder, bei der auch Termine in Berlin und Villach auf dem Programm stehen:
