Mai, gastiert das walisischsprachige Trio Tristwch y Fenywod im Berliner Urban Spree und somit erstmals live in der Stadt. Die im englischen Leeds gegründete Band, bestehend aus Gwretsien Ferch Lisbeth, Leila Lygad und Sidni Sarffwraig, spielt einen düster-experimentellen Mix aus Gothic Rock, elektronischen Beats und folkloristisch geprägter Instrumentierung. Nach nur wenigen Konzerten in ihrer Heimat und einem Live-Demo hat die Band Anfang des Jahres ihr Studio-Debüt über Night School veröffentlicht.

Gesungen wird ausschließlich auf Walisisch; thematisch kreisen die Texte um politische und ökologische Fragen, Queerness, mythologische Figurationen sowie Formen weiblicher Subjektivität. Das Zusammenspiel von Drum Machine, Bassgitarre und Zither schafft eine Textur, die gleichzeitig archaisch und artifiziell wirkt und die Stimme der Frontfrau wie ein weiteres Instrument aufnimmt. Formal erinnert die Musik zum Teil an frühe Produktionen aus dem Umfeld des 4AD-Labels mit einem keltischen Einschlag.

Examining both the vulnerability and determination of her voice – as it leaves the lips, raw, and in the ways it can be transformed with digital processing – the embodied memories of language, of utterance, are explored. Airy, open sound worlds and tentative strings of improvised naked vocal transform themselves into insistent repetition. Fizzing, sparkling electronics are set against the beautiful grainy depth of field recordings. The locations, these places, are found and lost – home is found and lost – in a dance of fragmented vocal harmonies. Three languages (English, Hungarian, Slovak) weave a song of spring, nature, forgiveness, togetherness and rebirth”. Das Album erscheint 500mal auf schwarzem Vinyl.
