In den nächsten Wochen erscheint der neue Longplayer der vielseitig interessierten Musikerin Violeta Vicci, die neben ihrem Stamminstrument, der Violine, auch an weiteren Streichinstrumenten wie Bratsche und Cello sowie als Vokalistin und im Umgang mit Elektronik und Feldaufnahmen versiert ist. Die Aufnahmen zu “Cavaglia” entstanden in der gleichnamigen Region in den Schweizer Alpen, wo die Künstlerin ihre Kindheit verbrachte und

unter dem direkten Einfluss ausgewählter, zum Teil mit persönlichen Erinnerungen behafteter Orte der Umgebung. “During the pandemic, she went back to her old 19th century family home and took to translating the pristine valley and its surrounding lakes and glaciers, into music”, heißt es beim Label Fabrique Records. “Highlighting the fragility of the environment and the beauty and the devastation created by climate change, the album incorporates the natural world into it’s very fabric; each song a different place on the map, creating soundscapes with violin, viola, cello and vocals in combination with electronics made out of field recordings passed through modular synths, masterfully produced by collaborator Roger Goula”.

Vicci studierte an der Londoner Royal Academy of Music und hat in den vergangenen Jahren in zahlreichen klassischen, populären und experimentellen Musikkontexten gespielt und komponiert, zu ihren bekanntesten Kollaborationen zählen ihre Arbeiten mit Thom Yorke, Jonsi und den späten Steeleye Span. Vor zwei Jahren war sie nominiert für den Royal Philharmonic Society Award. “Cavaglia” erscheint in den gängigen Formaten.
