Wie es vom Label heißt, bilden Ravels harmonische Sprache, rhythmische Komplexität und seine Affinität zu klanglicher Bildhaftigkeit dabei den Ausgangspunkt für eine zeitgenössische Lesart, die Einflüsse aus Jazz, Avantgarde und früher Techno-Produktion integriert, ohne die Eigenständigkeit der jeweiligen Mittel aufzugeben. Das Ergebnis ist, wie es ferner heißt, eine erweiterte Form des Klaviersolos zwischen Struktur und Offenheit, bei der akustische und elektronische Ebenen als eigenständige Stimmen aufeinandertreffen. “Roman Rofalski, pianist and composer, is seeking for perpetual change in his artistic life. Constantly looking for new frontiers he is experimenting with various styles, aiming to remove the artificial boundaries that have been established between Classical Music and improvised Modern Jazz. With his jazz-trio he has released three albums so far featuring original compositions and arrangements of classical works, especially those of the early 20th century. situations, Fractal takes a Schimmel K280 grand piano with its totally refined sound and synthesises sporadic piano clusters with deep electronic and rhythmic energy. The product of brief but intense studio recordings, Rofalski took his prepared piano tracks away and, in his own words “tore the sounds apart”, editing and engineering his beautiful piano flourishes with the aid of multiple plug-ins, loops, cuts and re-samples”. “Saving Kaiser is presenting their first official EP combining top-notch experimental electronics with the verve and playfulness of improvising musicianship. Thomas Woerle and Roman Rofalski - both trained and established as drummer and pianist – are expanding their musical tools in order to pursue a new aesthetic of sound and interaction. In this process, equipment ranging from cymbals and keys to modular systems and laptop start communicating, evolving crystalline soundscapes in between ambient, noise, drone and polyrhythmic beats. Saving Kaiser deploys agility and improvisation into the electronic cosmos. There aren’t any pre-composed sets, everything forms and emerges in the very moment. Complex soundscapes arise, situated in between analogue and digital, spontaneously transforming and developing.

Every single snowflake is a structure of absolute originality, composed of a unique complexity. It is self-sufficient and – at the same time – part of something way bigger. Saving Kaiser sets free digital grains, highlights and puts together new structures, partly symmetrical, sometimes chaotic.
