Der Titel “Y in Dub” macht die Stoßrichtung der Remixe unmissverständlich deutlich, für die Remixe zeichnet zudem kein Geringerer als Dennis Bovell verantwortlich, der bereits das Original produzierte und ihm schon damals eine leicht dublastige Schlagseite verpasste. Das Album erscheint am 29. Oktober bei Mute Records auf CD und digital – die LP steht für März 2022 auf dem Plan.

“Mirroring the tracklisting of their 1979 debut, Y in Dub is a 9-track collection of heavyweight dub versions that match the prodigious intensity of their source material, reflecting the enterprising originality of the dub and reggae music that inspired The Pop Group, as well as the legendary ingenuity of their longstanding collaborator Dennis Bovell, recently was awarded an MBE for his services to music.

Following the announcement that The Pop Group and dub maestro Dennis ‘Blackbeard’ Bovell MBE will perform the worldwide premiere of Y in Dub for Terry Hall presents Home Sessions for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 on 31 July 2021, this clash of titans have now announced the album release of Y in Dub, the dub reinterpretation of Y, one of the era-defining releases of the post-punk period.” (Mute)

Das üppig instrumentierte Album der Band um Sänger Mark Stewart vereinte damals eine Vielzahl vom musikalischen Einflüssen von Punk über Chanson bis Jazz und erhielt durch die Produktion des an Reggae und Dub geschulten Dennis “Blackbeard” Bovell einen ganz charakteristischen Sound. Das reguläre Box-Set des Post Punk-Klassikers wird neben dem Album die Debütsingle “She is Beyond Good & Evil” sowie die (ebenfalls aus dieser Zeit stammende und zehn Tracks umfassende) Zusammenstellung von Outtakes und Vorabversionen “Alien Blood” und den Konzertmitschnitt “Y Live” enthalten, zudem ein üppiges Booklet mit Kunstdrucken. Es wird eine luxuriösere Box mit aufwendigeren Pressungen und signierten Drucken geben.
