Pünktlich zum diesjährigen Samhain hat die obskure englische Combo The Gaslight Troubadours ihr neues Album “Curse of the Gaslights” veröffentlicht. Die abenteuerlustigen Gaslight Troubadours wurden vor knapp zehn Jahren von Professor Singleton Purblind und Lon Lippincott gegründet und stehen seitdem für eine samplebasierte Mixtur aus Revuemusik, Hiphop, Exotica, Hammer Horror, Leftfield-Electronica, viktorianischen “Steampunk”-Anleihen und vielem mehr. Am neuen Album sind u.a. Youth (Killing Joke, Hypnopazuzu), Marc Almond und Neil X beteiligt – letzere beiden wirkten bereits an Purblinds Soloalbum mit, Almond steuert hier sogar das Artwork bei. Ebenfalls zu hören sind Eliza Carthy, Lateef The Truthspeaker, Tom Robinson, Professor Elemental, Amina Annabi, Dandelion, Kurnel MC, Fey Pink, Lady Fingaz und Victor Vector. Das Album erscheint als CD und digital.

Acoustic Cornucopia: Zweites Studio-Konzert von Marc Almond

Am 25. Juni tritt Marc Almond mit Band zum zweiten Mal live aus den Dean St. Studios und im Stream auf, diesmal mit einem (beinahe) Unplugged-Set unter dem Motto Acoustic Cornucopia. Die Songauswahl wird Akustik-Versionen bekannter Songs bzw. einige seiner schon auf Platte weniger elektronischen Songs aus der Chanson- und Folk-Ecke sowie einige Überraschungen enthalten. Sein erweitertes Line-up umfasst diesmal neben Neal X (Gitarre), Tim Weller (Drums und Percussion), James Beaumont (Keyboards) und Phil Polecat (Bas) auch die Eheleute Kimberlee und Martin McCarrick, bekannt als The McCarricks, die die Songs an Akkordeon, Violine und Cello begleiten.

Chaos and the Hits: Erstes Online-Konzert von Marc Almond

Am 31. Mai um 20 Uhr (7pm englische Zeit) gibt Marc Almond erstmals ein Konzert, welches in voller Länge im Live-Stream auf seiner Webseite und auf seinem Youtube-Kanal übertragen wird. Das Konzert, das mit Begleitung von Neal X (Gitarre), James Beaumont (Keyboard) und Tim Weller (Drums) in einem Tonstudio stattfindet, knüpft an die kurzen Videos auf Almonds Instagram-Account an und ist zugleich der Auftakt zu einer geplanten Reihe an vollen Konzerten – wer Almonds stilistische Bandbreite zwischen elektronischer und akustischer Musik, zwischen Tributes und eigenen Songs und vielem mehr kennt, kann sich vorstellen, dass diese recht unterschiedlich ausfallen werden. Die erste Show findet unter dem Motto “Chaos and the Hits” statt, so dass man mit einer Auswahl an bekannten Klassikern und Songs seines aktuellen Albums “Chaos and a Dancing Star” rechnen kann. Freiwillige Spenden sind willkommen und sollen den Betreibern und Mitarbeitern des Studios zukommen.
