Zwei Konzerte von und mit Rieko Okuda wird es am 7. November im Neuköllner KM28 geben: Bei der Solo-Performance Paranorm, in deren Zentrum ein mit Kontaktmikros präpariertes Klavier steht, wird das dabei erzeugte Feedback zum Hauptmaterial. Das folgende Metal Illusion basiert auf einem Film von Els Vandeweyer, in welchem beide Künstlerinnen mitwirken. In der Aufführung kommen neben dem Film diverse Instrumente und diverse Mixed Media zum Einsatz.
“Rieko Okuda is a pianist and a composer. In Paranorm, she uses the piano, a chain of microphones, and speakers in order to create feedback based on the overtone series. These speakers are chosen with different frequency ranges in order to pick up specific overtones. Metal Illusion is the duo project of vibraphonist and visual artist Els Vandeweyer and the pianist and sound artist Rieko Okuda. In 2016, Vandeweyer received a prize from the Berlin Senate to record her film Metal Illusion, in which Okuda and Vandewyer combine objects and sounds with physical movement. Metal Illusion also incorporates installations, dolls, costumes, and a 25-meter textile collage score.”
