Knapp drei Jahre nach ihrem Debüt “A Merry Company of Noble Men” bringt die deutsche Sängerin und Gitarristin Julia Laura ihr zweites Album heraus, und auch bei “I Lock the Door Upon Myself” sollte man sich nicht dadurch abschrecken lassen, dass die Musikerin ihr Songwriting als cheesy und ihr Spiel auf der akustischen Gitarre als shitty bezeichnet, sondern ein tiefgehendes, facettenreiches Werk erwarten. Zehn Songs von ungekünstelter, raumlassender Melancholie, bei denen verschiedene KollegInnen Horn, Akkordeon, Percussion sowie zusätzliche Gitarren und Gesang beisteuern, sind in den lyrischen Rahmen zweier Texte von Christina Rosetti und George Farina gepackt, gelesen einmal vom Dichter selbst sowie von Patricia Burch, der Mutter des Kollegen und Labelgründers Stephen J. Burch alias The Great Park. Das Album erscheint als CDr und digital mit farbigem Bild- und Textmaterial.
