Cruel Nature bringen Anfang Dezember ein neues Tape des im Lettland lebenden Klangkünstlers Žils Deless-Vēliņš alias Lunt heraus. “Remember We Were Waiting For The Snow” ist eine vielfach instrumentierte Reihe an Soundscapes, bei denen die Gitarre eine wichtige Rolle spielt und im Schnitt zu rau für reinen Ambient, zu abstrahiert, um in eine folkige Richtung zu gehen. Laut Label ist das zentrale inhaltliche Motiv die sogenannte Solastalgie: “our anxiety, our concern, our sadness to see some natural phenomenon disappear. Written 5 years ago, after Žils relocated to Latvia, it is a collection of exquisite reflective moving guitar-driven ambience drawing from same the sonic well as soundscapers like Jim O’Rouke”. Lunt, der auch unter dem namen Gilles Deless auftritt, ist seit den Jahren um 2000 als Soundartist in verschiedenen Konstellationen aktiv und ist Mitgründer des Labels We Are Unique! Records.
“Žils Deless-Vēliņš (Lunt) has held a mystical relationship to sound and music since he was a child, and his crafting of music can be compared to a construction kit game, where music as a whole is more than the sum of sounds. For him, sound has a kinship with the concept of pneuma in Stoician philosophy. Sound expects to be found to become music, lying there in an intuitive background. He has worked on a wide range of experimental projects, as a songwriter, sound engineer, and is the co-founder of French-based label We Are Unique! Records. He is now based in Latvia where music is a ground for everyday life, and essential to Latvian identity.” (Cruel Nature)
