Das auf vergriffene Japanoise-Klassiker und -Raritäten spezialisierte Mailänder Urashima-Label hat soeben eine erste Vinyl-Auflage von Violent Onsen Geishas Album “Wagamama Na Ofukuro” herausgebracht. Der auch als Schriftsteller und Bildender Künstler aktive und heute unter dem Namen Hair Stylistics arbeitende Nakahara Masaya brachte das Album 1993 als Tape auf seinem damaligen Label My Fiance’s Lifework heraus. “Wagamama Na Ofukuro” das soviel wie “Egoistische Mutter” bedeutet, verknüpft wie so oft in Nakharas Werk nostalgisch wirkende Easy Listenig-Zitate von einer gewissen rosaroten Mädchenhaftigkeit mit infernalischem Feedback und anderen Noiseelementen, und wenn man weiß, dass Jess Franco ebenso zu

seinen Inspirationsquellen gehört wie Thomas Bernhard und Michele Houellebecq, meint man imemr wieder das Echo dieser Größen in unterschiedlich abstrahierter Form zu hören. Urashima bezeichnen das Tape treffend als “known for its confrontational and irreverent approach to music. It consists of handful of tracks that features a barrage of harsh noise, feedback, and distorted vocals. Despite its abrasive nature, there is a sense of humor and playfulness to the music, with artist incorporating samples of children’s songs and nursery rhymes into the mix. Nakahara’s use of unconventional instruments and sounds, as well as his willingness to push boundaries and challenge established norms, make this cassette a standout in the noise genre”.
