Am 10. November erscheint auf dem Mailänder Label Communion eine CD der Formation Sacro Bosco Mediazione (niht zu verwechseln mit der Band Bosco Sacro) um die Sängerin und Komponistin Vittoria de Franchis, ebenfalls beteiligt sind die Musiker Can Aksan (Bass, Drum Machine, Synthesizer), Seif Gaber (Keyboard, Synthie, Vocals), Francesca Mariano (Keyboard, Vocals) und Giampaolo Scapigliati (Bass, Synthie). Das selbstbetitelte Album, das für Freunde der Hauntologie und der Italian Occult Psychedelia eine Offenbarung sein könnte, verknüpft in seinen improvisierten Stücken tremolierende dröhnende Psychedelic mit dem Wiederhall elektronischer Avantgarde und folkig eingefärbten, spannungsgeladenen Ritualklängen. Ein bereits im Namen des Ensembles anklingendes Thema ist der als Heiliger Wald (Sacro Bosco) oder Monsterpark (Parco dei Mostri) bekannte Skulpturenpark, der im 16. Jahrhundert von unbekannten Künstlern in der Nähe der mittelitalienischen Stadt Bomarzo errichtet wurde. Seine zum Teil bizarren Statuen, in der Mehrheit inspiriert von den Mythen der Antike, und Bauwerke haben seither die Fantasie vieler Menschen inspiriert, u.a. verarbeitete Salvador dali die Eindrücke des Ortes in einem Gemälde. Die Band verknüpft diese Motive hier allerdings auch mit dem etruskischen Erbe des an der Grenze zur Toskana gelegenen Ortes und zieht Instpirationen aus den Arbeiten des lokalen Historikers Salvatore Fosci. Das Album erscheint mit einem üppigen Booklet mit einem Interview und Fotos sowie Artwork von Nicola Tirabasso. Es ist auch digital erhältlich.

“Sacro Bosco Mediazioni shows a deep engagement with the concept of becoming as well as an inclination toward vitality and movement, capturing the ever-shifting nature of reality and the archetypical shapes of myth in sound. As some kind of time-warping devices, electronic and acoustic instruments are often intertwined with hieratic and sensuous voices, refracted and multiplied by means of electronic manipulation, weaving new imaginary folkloric traditions in a spontaneous inter-play that transcends time and space. Recorded on a peperino terrace overlooking the Tiber valley at sunset, the album emerges from a three hours jam which followed an exploration of the Preacher’s Stone, also known as Etruscan Pyramid. The record is accompanied by a booklet about the story of the Pyramid, a sacred long-forgotten stone structure lost in the woods of ancient Etruria that is at the core of the whole Sacro Bosco Mediazioni project. The informations included in text are based on the accounts of Salvatore Fosci, a self-taught researcher and archaeologist based in Bomarzo. Author of the book “Il Vulcano Nascosto ” (“The Hidden Vulcan”) (2018) in which he presents his vision on the Sacro Bosco (also known as the Monster Park), Salvatore is known for unearthing in 2008 one of the most interesting monuments of the Etruscan cultural heritage: the Sasso del Predicatore (Preacher’s Rock) located in the woods bordering Bomarzo. His extraordinary spirit of observation, unique intuitiveness and the narrative heritage of his father – one of the last shepherds and stone quarrymen bearers of a millenary oral tradition – have made him an essential figure in the promotion of the historical heritage of the Viterbo area, core of the largest archaeological park in Europe”.
