Bertrand Gauguet, der unseren Lesern wahrscheinlich vor allem als Altsaxophonist bekannt ist, aber auch immer wieder als Komponist elektronischer Musik in Erscheinung tritt, bringt elf Jahre nach “The Torn Map” sein zweites rein elektronisch ausgerichtetes Soloalbum unter dem Titel “ENCERCLEMENTS” (Großschreibung im Original) heraus. Das aus “Kreisen” und dem abschließenden “En route !” bestehende Werk präsentiert eine vordergründig repetitiv ausgerichtete und – auch in weniger rhythmisch dominierten Momenten – dynamische Elektronik, die eine ambiente Basis mit Bauformen von Glitch bis Noise kombiniert. “Bertrand Gauguet is a musician based in Paris. As a composer of electronic music, he produced many original pieces and soundtracks for dance, cinema and radio. He also made field recordings for radio broadcasts, films and live performance devices. He has been also playing alto and baryton saxophones in solo or collective contexts of improvisation of new music. His interests explore the interplay of frequencies and their refraction, multiphony, sounds at the thresholds of audibility, breath and more broadly sound as a medium for meditation. His discography to date includes some twenty albums published by European labels. He was laureate of the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto in 2011″. (In Giram Records)
