Vor einigen Tagen erschien das erste Album der neuseeländischen Synth-Virtuosin Ziri alias Zireael, es erscheint als Tape und digital. Die Künstlerin ist auch unter dem Projektnamen Secret Sorcery aktiv und subsumiert ihre Aktivitäten unter dem Überbegriff Arcane Chapel. Die Musik verströmt eine versponnene, weltentrückte Aura, die Freunden des Folk ebenso wie Dungeon Synth-Afficionados gleichermaßen gefallen könnte, über beides aber entschieden hinausgeht. Über den Hintergrund des Albums heißt es beim Label: “Brokilon, a wooded realm ruled by the dryads, is the first offering from

Zireael, a fantasy synth project curated by New Zealand artist Ziri. Taking its themes and inspiration from the world of The Witcher book series [von Andrzej Sapkowski], this is synth music inspired by an ancient, formidable woodland”. Das formidable Waldland exisitiert in einer anderen Zeitlichkeit, in der es keinen Fortschritt gibt, wie es in energischen Worten des Künstlers heißt: “Begone, man, get out of Brokilon at once. You have captured the whole world, man, you are everywhere. Everywhere you introduce what you call modernity, the era of change, what you call progress. But we want neither you nor your progress here”. Das Album erscheint als Tape bei Fiadh Productions und digital bei der Künstlerin selbst.
