Im Juli meldet sich Vestigal, das Projekt des italienischen Ambientmusikers Peppe Ferrillo, nach mehreren Jahren mit dem neuen Album “Descending Vastness” eindrucksvoll zurück. Die Veröffentlichung über Cyclic Law (CD und Download) versammelt teils neu überarbeitete, teils aus früheren Sessions rekonstruierte Stücke zu einem dichten Werk zwischen Kontemplation und Abgrund. Vestigial bewegt sich dabei zwischen filigraner Ruhe und eruptiver Wucht: Idyllisch anmutende Passagen werden durch digitale Störungen und verfremdete Stimmen gebrochen, dunkle, massiv grollende Klangmassen breiten sich aus wie ein sinkendes Schiff in endloser Weite. Undefinierbare Klänge und subtil verschobene Strukturen erzeugen eine Atmosphäre, in der sich Unruhe und Klarheit überlagern. “Descending Vastness” ist dabei laut Label kein bloßes Soundkonzept, sondern eine eindringliche Reflexion über die Zerbrechlichkeit und Bedingtheit aller Phänomene.
