Cruel Nature bringen in den nächsten Wochen ein neues Album von Zachary und Denny Wilkerson Corsa alias Nonconnah als limitiertes Tape heraus. Der Titel “Shadows From The Walls Of Death” führt direkt in den thematischen Kosmos des Longplayers, der sich mit Vorfällen aus dem viktorianischen Zeitalter beschäftigt, bei denen Tapetenhersteller ihre Produkte mit Arsen vergifteten, um so ihre Kunden und z.T. auch Mitarbeiter in den Manufakturen umzubringen. 
“The inspiration behind “Shadows From The Walls Of Death” is the trend during the Victorian era for eye-catching ornately designed vivid wallpaper, which happened to be laced with arsenic, slowly poisoning the occupants of the houses adorned with it and workers in the factories who mass-produced it. Left untouched, the wallpaper could release flakes of arsenic into the air or produce arsenical gas when conditions were damp. It was also linked to the widespread cases of mental illness at the time. Something decorative and ostensibly beautiful but potentially dangerous, both physically and psychologically”. Der Titel stammt aus einem Buch aus der Zeit, in dem Tapetenstücke enthalten sind – auch im Artwork des Albums finden sich solche, und die Frage, wo historische Korrektheit aufhört und das Feld der urbanen Legenden betreten wird, soll hier unbeantwortet bleiben lassen. Das Album enthält zehn meist kompakte, kollagenhafte Soundscapes, bei denen v.a. verrauschter Lärm, aber auch tremolierende Dröhnung, rhythmische Synthieloops und allerlei unter dicken Soundschichten vergrabene Sprachfetzen und kindliche Melodien das Klangbild prägen. Cruel Nature beschreiben Nonconnah als “an experimental music duo who explore themes of memory and the past, the lingeringly supernatural, and the profoundly American through hallucinatory layers of guitar and the spectral decay inherent in ‘obsolete’ recording mediums. Drawing on sonic traditions as varied as ambient and drone music, shoegaze, noise music, psych-rock, post-rock, and the occasional touches of old time/Appalachian folk music”.
