Am 15. April erscheint auf Dirter Promotions das neue Album von Philip Bests Projekt Consumer Electronics. „Surge“ wird knapp fünf Jahre nach „Airless Space“ veröffentlicht. Über die musikalische Entwicklung Consumer Electronics der letzten Jahre konnte man hier lesen: „Schon auf dem 2014 veröffentlichten Album ‘Estuary English’ gab es vereinzelt Momente, auf denen deutlich wurde, dass Rhythmus (in was für einer fragmentierten Form auch immer) zu einem Bestandteil des Klangbilds geworden war und auch der Klang insgesamt transparenter, minimalistischer wurde, man auf die brachialen Verzerrungen, die z.B. auf ‘Crowd Pleaser‘ noch dominierten, weitgehend verzichtete.“ In der Besetzung Best und Russell Haswell eingespielt und mit einem Gastauftritt von Rahmlehs Gary Mundy, soll das neue Album laut Labelinfo allerdings „Noticeably noisier and more aggressive than previous releases “ sein.
