Die französischen Hidden Crypt Records haben vor einigen Tagen eine neue Vinyl-EP von Nathaniel Ritters Projekt Circulation of Light herausgebracht. Kinit Her- und Brave Mysteries-Gründer Ritter bezeichnet “Demons to Pick From”, dessen Songs bis ins Jahr 2020 zurückreichen, als seine erste wirklich kollaborativ ausgerichtete Arbeit, die EP enthält Gesangsbeiträge von seiner langjährigen Weggefährtin Jessica Way und Michael Tellbach vom Art Abscons. Als Inspirationsquellen nennt der Ritter außerdem den Musiker und Tattookünstler Gianluca Martucci (Vrna), dessen Motive indirekt Einzug in das Artwork gehalten haben, sowie Burial Hex. 
Im Unterschied zu dem erst vor wenigen Wochen erschienenen “Terror & Reconciliation”, bei dem die gesamplete Rezitation von Texten ausgewählter Autoren / Sprecher und im allerweitesten Sinne ambiente Klangwelten im Zentrum standen, ist “Demons to Pick From”, dessen Lyrics von Ritter selbst stammen, ein songorientiertes Werk, bei dem elektronische und akustische Instrumente sowie Samples zusammen mit den eindringlichen Vocals eine eindringliche, soghafte Dynamik in vielfältigen Gangarten entstehen lassen. Vom Künstler heißt es: “The ‘Demons to Pick From’ 10” EP marks a new path for what has now become my main musical outlet, after having been a purely solo project since 2009. I am extremely pleased with what these four songs have become. They started as demos for the short-lived Symbol & The Sound project, were considered as Kinit Her tracks, and those remnants have now been reforged into their final and most fitting form. [...] As has been my modus operandi for the past few years, I aim to further advance my persistent impulse to explore every non-dual paradox that arises in my awareness. Each recording I release must increasingly focus on unfolding my, my collaborators’, and my audience’s minds, hearts, and aetheric bodies, in such a way as to bathe in infinite uncertainty. This record juxtaposes and overlays seemingly mundane romantic notions with contemplation of the ground of all phenomena. Circulation of Light’s output will continue to be eclectic. Some tracks will harken back to my earlier, more ambient and experimental work, but expect more in this vein to arrive in the coming year.
