Das Wiener Teleport Collective, früher bekannt als Killah Tofu, meldet sich mit seinem neuen Album “A Monolith’s Dream” zurück, das dieser Tage als Doppel-LP bei col legno music erscheint. Mit einer einzigartigen Mischung aus Jazz, Electronica, Easy Listening-Elementen und soundtrackartigen Passagen entführt die heute als Trio aktive Band – bestehend aus Aaron Maria Steiner (Keys, Sampling, Lights), Michael Naphegyi (Drums, Toys, Electronics) und Joachim Huber (Bass, Tiny Machines) – in eine posthumane Zukunft, in der die Menschheit obsolet geworden ist und Maschinen die Oberhand gewinnen.

In zwei “Bildern” entfaltet sich die Geschichte, die sich graduell von einer vermeintlichen Utopie zur Dystopie wandelt: Der erste Teil weckt immer wieder nostalgische Sci-Fi-Erinnerungen und erzeugt mit Lo-Fi-Elementen und funkigen Grooves eine retro-futuristische Atmosphäre. Der zweite Teil dagegen verdichtet sich zu einer düsteren, industriellen Klanglandschaft, welche die Sackgasse der modernen Zivilisation aufzeigt. Beim label heißt es: “The future follows the present and is coming towards us. It is a horizon of possibilities: aimed at, conceived in the present, it challenges us to set the right tone. It is fleeting: once the future has become real, it vanishes in the blink of an eye. Teleport Collective’s A Monolith’s Dream is a musical portrait in two pictures. The first explores a posthuman world in which human beings have become obsolete.

The music is based on a pre-composed score; it has a nostalgic touch, occasionally verging on kitsch. Hinting at sci-fi movie scores, it weaves together grooves and lo-fi elements to create a (retro-)futuristic fabric. [...] The second picture focuses on the blind alley human civilisation is heading into; amid the throbbing cycle of production and consumption, disaster is looming. The dark industrial moods of the mostly improvised pieces emphasise the oppressive atmosphere”. Das Album ist auch digital erhältlich.
