Vier Jahre nach dem letzten Album „Thrice Woven“ veröffentlicht die Band aus Olympia, WA, um die beden Brüder Nathan und Aaron Weaver sowie Gitarrist Kody Keyworth mit „Primordial Arcana“ am 20. August das insgesamt siebte Album über Relapse Records in den USA und Centutury Media in Europa. Das Album wird in einer Reihe von Formaten (Vinyl, CD, Tape, DL) erhältlich sein.
„Primordial Arcana“ wurde wie auch schon die letzten Veröffentlichungen im sogenannten Owl Lodge Studio der Band eingespielt. Diesmal produzierten Wolves In The Throne Room das Album allerdings komplett selbst. Über den Titel des Albums heißt es: “The album’s title is a reference to the band’s ongoing reach back to the most ancient, archetypal energies.”
Sowohl das Artwork des Albums mit Tierschädel, Fell, Federn und Kerzen als auch das jüngst veröffentlichte und von der Band selbst in den Bergen Olympias gedrehtes Video zu dem Song „Mountain Magick“ (das einem einsamen Wanderer zeigt, der die Wälder durchstreift) verweisen auf das oben zitierte Ziel. “‘Mountain Magick’ was shot in the northern reaches of the Olympic Mountains and the ancient forests that shroud the foothills,” the band says. “We wrote the story, created the costumes, shot the footage and did the editing ourselves, so it is a true product of our hearts and souls. Creating our own videos has been a long standing dream and now It’s very exciting to bring these Visions into the Cinematic Realm.”
