Das chilenische “Hybrid Rock”-Quartett Cola De Zorro bringt ein neues Album heraus, das sich, gleichwohl instrumental gehalten, mit der seit Jahren aktuellen Gefahr der Austrocknung weiter Landesteile außeinandersetzt – der Titel “El desierto avanza” bedeutet im Deutschen dann auch “Die kommende Wüste”. Musikalisch bewegen sich die von aufgeweckten Rhythmen, erdenden Bässen und melodischen Gitarrenparts geprägten Tracks in einem rockigen Terrain, bei denen der Bezug zu zahlreichen Traditionen – Krautrock, Prog, Math Rock – aber auch zu zeitgenössischen Standards – Oszillatoren, Samples, aufwendige Postproduktion – evident sind. Das Album erscheint als LP bei Le Rock Psicophonique.
“The sonic exploration of the album mixes cracked Latin rhythms and textures with at times motoric beats. The electric bass dialogues in the low frequencies and sings melodies in the middle registers. The guitars, at times in counterpoint, develop layers and textures mixed with oscillators and samples and are always accompanied by a melodic narrative that seeks the epic in cathartic passages. The entire proposal is contained in seven cuts recorded at CHT Estudios, Santiago de Chile. The album was recorded and mixed by Cristóbal Arriagada and mastered by Gonzalo González. The design and art were created by Rodrigo Acevedo. Tanu was the first single chosen as the starting point for this new stage. Launched on January 21 of the present year and with a video clip by Ramiro Tercero.
