Am 31. Mai 2024 wird auf dem in Los Angeles ansässigen Label In The Red Records „Insurrection“ von Alan Vega veröffentlicht. „Insurrection“ erscheint im Rahmen der Archivaufnahmen der Vega Vault-Reihe. Deren erster Teil begann mit dem Longplayer „Mutator“ (auf Sacred Bones). Vorab wurde das Stück „Mercy“ veröffentlicht, zu dem Douglas Hart, der bis 1991 bei The Jesus And Mary Chain Bass spielte und in den letzten Jahren eine Reihe von Musikvideos gedreht hat (u.a. „Muscles“ von „Mutator“), Regie führte. Das Album erscheint auf Vinyl, als CD und als Download.
„Vega’s wife and collaborator Liz Lamere says of the album, ‘Insurrection was created in the time period around 1997/98, after Mutator and prior to Vega’s 1999 release of 2007 and captures the intense energy of NYC in the 90s rife with crime, killing, hate, fascism, racism, and moral bankruptcy. You can hear the tortured souls floating through this album.’
Fellow Vega collaborator Jared Artaud says, ‘Insurrection hits hard and shows the power and intensity of Alan Vega’s visionary solo work. It feels like he was trying to break new ground.
