Die Band El Khat um den mittlerweile in Berlin ansässigen Komponisten, Virtuosen und Songschreiber Eyal el Wahab hat gerade über Glitterbeat eine neue digitale Single herausgebracht. Zusammen mit Lotan Yaish und Yefet Hasan und auf der Basis von metallenen Perkussionsobjekten, Orgel, Drums, verschiedenen Stimmen und einigem mehr entstand mit “Tislami Tislami” ein mitreißendes Psychedelicon mit mehr als nur einem kleinen Echo vorderasiatischer und v.a. jemenitischer Musiktraditionen. Es ist der Auftakt eines für den Herbst geplanten neuen Albums.

“El Khat began honing their distinctive sound in garages and warehouses in 2019. Experimenting with DIY homemade instruments – as an expression of a minimalist musical and life philosophy – led the three-piece to create two acclaimed albums of exhilarating rough and tumble Arabic songs with deep debts to the musical culture of Yemen. The group’s new single Tislami Tislami, is the first track to be released from their upcoming third album “mute” (out September 13th). The new record is the next level expression of this highly unique sonic adventure that The Wire called ‘a barrage of freaked percussion, whomping bass and choral voices set off by banks of detuned brass’. Group leader Eyal el Wahab tells us this about the theme of Tislami Tislami: ‘After disasters, you can see clearly. From the bottom, you can appreciate things again.
