Drei Jahre nach dem biblisch inspirierten Album “Patriarchs” kündigt der englische Komponist Christopher James Chaplin für Ende September einen neuen Longplayer an. “Door 1 Door 2″, das erneut elektronische Musik mit klassischer Avantgarde verbindet, ist diesmal ganz den Mythen des abendländischen Kulturkreises gewidmet, was neben den Stoffen um Oedipus und Artus einmal mehr zwei biblische Themen beinhaltet. Zur Themenwahl und zum motivischen Rahmen der vier Tracks sagt Chaplin: “The myths of our Western tradition have often captivated me, whether they be Greek, Roman, or Judeo-Christian. 
Myths are a transcendent collective narrative; a buried memory, not intellectual but spiritual, alive to all the senses of another world. These stories often describe forbidding passages guarded by terrifying monster-like creatures, which, if conquered, give access to other planes. ‘Door 1 – Door 2′ are two of these planes, opening to prophecy and kingship”. Sein Stammlabel Fabrique Records betont den stilistisch ungreifbaren und gleichsam intensiven Charakter der Musik: “Christopher Chaplin playfully transcends genre boundaries and manages to condense experimental and colourful electronics into chamber music in a unique way, transporting the listener into mental and spatiotemporal intermediate states”. Auch diesmal hat sich der Komponist tatkräftige Unterstützung ins Boot geholt, allesamt Stimmen, namentlich Carmen Alt-Chaplin (Rezitation), Tassos Apostolou (Bass) und Michela Varvaro (Sopran). Das Album erscheint mit Artwork von Tim Story als LP und digital.
