Am 21. Februar erscheint mit “BREATH. PLAY.” das zweite Soloalbum der estnisch-lettischen Stimmkünstlerin Eleonora Kampe auf Cruel Nature Records. Die limitierte Tape-Veröffentlichung versammelt Improvisationen, die sich auf Stimme und Atmung als unmittelbare Ausdrucksformen konzentrieren. Kampe, die seit 2009 mit ihrer Stimme als Instrument arbeitet, ist vor allem durch Kollaborationen bekannt – etwa mit dem Duo Road to Saturn, dem audiovisuellen Projekt Tencu/eleOnora oder Ringhold. Solo veröffentlichte sie 2023 ihr Debüt “tuuljamuud”. Auf “BREATH. PLAY.” verarbeitet sie nun spontane vokale Experimente, die eng mit körperlichen Empfindungen und emotionalen Zuständen verbunden sind. Ausgangspunkt waren lange Improvisationen, die sie anschließend neu strukturierte und zu eigenwilligen Kompositionen verdichtete.

“My second solo album, ‘BREATH. PLAY.’, is an attempt to explore and pass one through voice art emotional states and how they exist in the body”, heißt es von der Künstlerin. “Voice and breathing are closely connected with both the body and the feeling. Last year many new things started to happen in my life that made me feel in new and unexpected ways. It made me curious, and I decided to use these emotional sensations in my artistic practice. I spent long periods in the recording studio balancing my voice improvisations to how I was feeling on different days. With these recording sessions I created lengthy soundscapes that I later sliced up and rearranged into these strange little compositions”. Das Album ist auch digital erhältlich.
