Leila Abdul-Rauf veröffentlicht dieser Tage ihr neues Album “Calls From A Seething Edge” bei ihrem Stammlabel Cyclic Law (als CD und LP) sowie bei Syrup Moose (als CD und Tape). Das Album markiert eine kraftvolle musikalische Reflexion von globalen und persönlichen Umwälzungen der letzten Jahre. Im Gegensatz zu ihren früheren, ambienter ausgerichteten Arbeiten setzt Abdul-Rauf diesmal auf epische, oftmals rhythmisch geprägte Elemente, die Drone und an Industrial erinnernde Einflüsse mit Folk sowie mit vorderasiatischen und mittelalterlichen Melodien verweben. Mit Beiträgen von Musikern wie ex Common Eider, King Eider-Mitglied Gregory C. Hagan (Bratsche), Derrick Vella (Akustikgitarre), Sam Foster (Drums und Percussion), Vincent van Veen (E-Cello und Bass) und Ryan Honaker (Violine) erschafft Abdul-Rauf eine intensive Atmosphäre, die intime Akustikgitarren und anrührende Percussion mit üppigen Synthesizer-Schichten kombiniert.
