Treste Records haben zum sechten Mal drei Virtuosen zum musikalischen Austausch über die Begrenzungen sozialer Distanz hinweg zusammen getrommelt und machen dabei auf ein ohnehin vorhandenes Potenzial heutiger Kommunikation aufmerksam. Diesmal ist ein besonders dynamisches Resultat zustande gekommen, bei dem Beckenrauschen und Ethnodrums, stets wechelhafte Celloparts, bedrohliches Rauschen und seltsame Tierstimmen für Spannung sorgen, bei der man immer mal wieder mit einem Freakout rechnet. Neben Julia Kent und David Coulter, die man Lesern unserer Seite kaum vorstellen muss, ist der schottische Drummer Seb Rochford mit dabei, dessen Takte bisweilen ein gewisses Rock-Element mit ins Bild bringen.
Julia Kent
Canadian-born, New York City-based cellist and composer Julia Kent creates music using layered and processed cello, electronics, and found sounds. She has released five solo records, the most recent being Temporal on UK label Leaf, and has toured throughout North America and Europe. In addition to her albums, she also composes music for film, theatre, and dance.
Sebastian Rochford
Is a Scottish drummer, composer and bandleader who spans many musical genres. Rochford has played drums for Polar Bear, Acoustic Ladyland, Basquiat Strings, Oriole, Menlo Park, Ingrid Laubrock Quintet, Bojan Zulfikarpasic’s Tetraband, and Sons of Kemet. His new band Pulled By Magnets made its debut in London in late – 2018
David Coulter
(Composer) is an English-born multidisciplinary artist, musician, composer, director, and educator based in the Bay Area since 2015. Since the 1980s, he has directed shows, produced records, and played his musical saw and other assorted weird and less-weird instruments in studios, theaters, and stages and on recordings around the world with the likes of The Pogues, Tom Waits, Kronos Quartet, Laurie Anderson, Yoko Ono, Hal Willner, and Gorillaz.
