Mit “Solo Acoustic Guitar Improvisations I” ist nun der erste Teil von sieben geplanten Releases erschienen, die der belgische Musiker und Klangkünstler Dirk Serries den Archtop- oder Schlag-Gitarren der Marke Hörfner zu widmen plant. Auf dem vorliegenden Album, das u.a. auf hundert LPs herauskommt, spielt Serries ein Modell von 1957 und entlockt ihm verspielte, mitunter sperrige melodische Muster.
“Solo Acoustic Guitar Improvisations I” ist repräsentativ für Serries’ jüngere Erkundungen der freien Improvisation und des Jazz, mit früheren Projekten wie Vidna Obmana, Fear Falls Burning und Microphonics arbeitete er in den Grenzbereichen zwischen Mabient, Drone, noise und experimenteller Elektronik. Die LP erscheint bei Serries’ Label A New Wave of Jazz, das von Rutger Zuydervelt gestaltete Albumcover zieren Liner Notes von Guy Peters.
