Unter dem Titel “…but swinging doesn’t bend them down” erscheint in den nächsten Tagen eine neue Doppel-LP des seit beinahe dreißig Jahren aktiven Trondheimer Jazzquartetts The Source. Der Titel entstammt einem Vers aus Robert Frosts Gedicht “Birches”, das ein in Baumkronen turnendes Kind beschreibt. Im Kosmos von The Source stehen solche Bilder auch für den Ort der Musik zwischen verspielter kindlicher Freiheit und den Beschränkungen des Erwachsenenlebens. In den Worten des Labels: “It could be read as a reflection over the conflict between the free play in nature and the boundaries of adult life awaiting on the ground… But maybe the ground can wait? Just join the sheer joy of climbing the trees and the careful balance that is needed not to fall and be at one with the flexibility of nature.” Mit einem Instrumentarium aus Posaune, Saxophon, Bass und Schlagzeug entsteht in den vierzehn Stücken ein .. mit eigener Signatur, .. das zugleich ein Mosaik an Stilteferenzen (Swing, Raga, Shuffle…) darstellt.
