Ende des Monats bringt Mona Mur ihr neues Album “Snake Island” heraus, von dem bereits die Single-Auskopplung “Shieldwall” als Song und Videoclip existiert. Das Album, das in der Hauptsache in Zusammenarbeit mit Ralf Goldkind komponiert wurde, hebt sich mit seinem punkig eingefärbten Industrial-Crossover-Sound

deutlich ab von seinem vor anderthalb Jahren veröffentlichten Vorgänger “Mona Mur”, dessen Stilistik stark von Chanson, Exotica und Eurodisco geprägt waren. Auch auf dem neuen Longplayer sind Interpretationen anderer Musiker zu hören, namentlich Coverversionen von Motörhead und Townes van Zandt. Zum Titel sagt die Musikerin: “I came across a story about a small island off the Brazilian shores, where twenty-thousand snakes dwell — deadly poisonous vipers.

They sleep nine months, then awaken only when a certain species of bird stops by to breed. So, the snakes eat them and survive. The snakes are everywhere. They’ve killed three lighthouse keepers so that the lighthouse is abandoned now. [...] I imagined myself living on that island, maybe even as one of the snakes”. Das Album erscheint am 30.
