Der in New York ansässige Keyboarder, Producer und Percussionist Nevaris bringt Ende Mai sein Debütalbum “Reverberations” heraus, das als eine Tour durch die kulturell mitunter sehr unterschiedlichen Teile der Stadt konzipiert ist und dabei Einflüsse des Dub, Funk, afrikanischer und lateinamerikanischer Musik mit einem guten schuss Inspirationsgeist verknüpft. Neben Nevaris selbst, der Perkussion, Hammondorgel und E-Piano spielt, sind Gäste wie Bill Laswell (Bass und Effekte), DJ Logic (Turntables), Will Bernard (Gitarre), Peter Apfelbaum (diverse Blasinstrumente), Lockatron (Drums) und Matt Dickey (Gitarre) mit an Bord.

Das Album erscheint als LP und digital auf Laswells Label M.O.D. Reloaded, die beiden Singles “Dub Sol” und “Interference” sind bereits streambar. Zu letzterem sagt Nevaris. “‘Interference’ was inspired by New York City and the energy of growing up there. As musicians mostly from this city, we really channeled that energy. We tracked the initial percussion, bass and drums live in the studio and added everything else on top of that. There was a good energy to the song from the very beginning. It’s an almost fully improvised track built in some layers. We wanted to give the rhythm section plenty of room to breathe”.
