Cruel Nature bringen Ende des Monats das gemeinsame Album des hier mit (einer teilweise mit dem Bogen gestrichenen, manchmal auch andächtig geschrammelten) E-Gitarre und Effekten aufwartenden Aidan Baker und des Pianisten Stefan Christoff neu heraus, das früher in diesem Jahr als limitierte Lathe Cut-Platte bei Time Released Sound erschienen ist. Die Kollegen von Sun 13 bezeichneten das Album bereits als “A grainy, sepia-toned slice of minimalism that’s as beautiful as anything either artist has produced”. In den fünf meist etwas längeren Teilen der als Einheit konzipierten Arbeit stehen – gerade zu Beginn, aber auch in vielen der folgenden Abschnitte – Christoffs feinsinnig improvisierte, mollastige Pianoparts, die ferne Erinnerungen an die Werke von Gurdjieff und de Hartmann aufkommen lassen, im Zentrum des Geschehens, während Bakers vielfältige Soundkulisse dazu einen reizvollen Konterpunkt bilden, bis immer mal wieder die Szenerie auf links gedreht wird und das vermeintlich Marginale ins Zentrum rückt.
