Die in Berlin lebenden Japanerinnen group A bringen ihren ersten Longplayer auf Vinyl heraus. “Initiation” entfaltet über neun Tracks hinweg eine kühle wie hypnotische Form des Synthie Wave mit starken Anleihen an dessen subkulturellere, postpunkige Formen der Jahre um 1980. Rhythmische Loops, mal schmissig, mal wie ein zombiehafter Totentanz, bilden den Teppich für verdrehte surreale Sounddetails, cool-monotone Vocals, die in gewissen Abständen in wildes NDW-Geshoute kippen. Das Album entstand 2013 in Tokyo und erschien damals auf CDr, die LP ist auf 40 Stück limitiert und erscheint mit handnummeriertem Poster.

“We were aiming to make an album that introduces the world of group A. I was in my second grade of graphic design course and was finding lots of inspirations in history class where i learned about Japanese old customs and Shinto. Belief, folklore and symbolism about stones, wood and paper. Everyday i would go straight to the studio after the class and tell Sayaka everything i learned that day, have a beer and then jam for hours. That’s how this album was created.
